Old Folks Bike for Refugees
Another Ride to Fund Refugee Resettlement
The Old Folks Bike Ride is back! These ten intrepid Dor Hadashers are again dedicating their ride to funding our Refugee Resettlement program.
We aim to host a second refugee family in collaboration with Jewish Family and Community Services. Our goal is to raise $12,000, which will assure our ability to provide housing, utilities, and basic needs for the first year of resettlement while the family gains financial self-sufficiency. In keeping with Dor Hadash’s Fundraising Guidelines, 5% of raised funds will go to the congregation for the administrative costs of the project.
The “old” Dor Hadashers are planning to ride 300 miles into the hills and valleys of the the hills and valleys of Virginia at the end of May.
Dor Hadash members were incredibly generous last year: $12,000 was raised in just one month! We hope to see the same gratifying response this year.
To successfully resettle a new refugee family, in addition to your financial support, we will need the help of dedicated refugee program volunteers. All are welcome to take part. More information on volunteering will follow.
