Congregation Dor Hadash Endowment Fund

The Congregation Dor Hadash Endowment Kick-Off Meeting was held at the Labor Zionist Center, at 10:00 on Sunday, February 10. Attendees learned about the new Endowment Fund which is being managed by the UJF Foundation for Dor Hadash. The Fund is intended to provide an additional income stream for improving the Congregation's long-term financial stability. In addition to describing the rationale for starting the Fund, Allen Baum discussed how to set up gifting strategies that offer superior tax advantages and provide flexibility in the timing of contributions. Dan Brandeis, Director of the UJF Foundation, described its operation, the kinds of funds it manages, and how investment decisions are made. The presentations appealled both to younger congregants hoping to increase their gifting in future years, and to older members who have already provided for their own retirement needs. The meeting was purely informational without any personal solicitation of any kind.
